The President, Prime Minister and Plantations Minister are aware of the problems in the tea industry and they will provide solutions to those problems very soon, Minister Gayantha Karunathilake said during a meeting held with the Tea Land Owners in the Galle District.
The Minister said that the low prices received by the tea small holders for a kilo gram of tender leaves, has become a problem, and the matter had been discussed at the cabinet meeting and the President has informed the relevant officials to find both short term and long term solutions to the problem.
The Minister also emphasised that the Prime Minister .has a long term vision to develop the tea industry and has a sound knowledge on international relations to do so.
