    Cabinet allocates funds to pay subscriptions to Environmental conventions Featured

    The Government has taken steps to pay subscriptions for Organizations of the United Nations, the ‘South Asian Cooperation for Environment’ Programme and Other multilateral environmental conventions and protocols.

    Sri Lanka has entered into agreement for various cooperation programmes and other multilateral environmental conventions showing its dedication for environmental conservation. Accordingly, as per these agreements, Sri Lanka has gained a thorough knowledge in environmental conservation, capacity development, training of officers and international technical and financial cooperation by way of grants. grants.

     

    The proposal made by President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment, to allocate funds to pay annual subscriptions as per the agreements to environmental organizations, for conventions, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
