He was accorded a Guard of Honour on arrival and was warmly received by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, who introduced him to the Chief of Staff, Director Generals and Area Commanders of the Navy.

The discussions were carries out on a range of issues related to SLN operations, future plans and the taking over of Avant Garde operations. The Secretary also made an inspection visit to the NHQ Operations Room and viewed the SLN’s operation coordination and maritime surveillance.

The Navy Commander presented a special memento to the Defence Secretary to mark his first official visit to the Naval Headquarters on assumption of duties.
