Special catch up day for Northern schools closed due to heavy rainfall

Due to the closure of schools in the Northern Province following heavy rainfall, the Northern Province Ministry of Education has declared a special catch up day to be held to make up on lost school time.

Owing to the bad weather on Nov. 16, schools in Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Killinochchi, Jaffna and Mannar districts were forced to close. This included all schools functioning under Sinhala, Tamil and English mediums.

Thus, a special catch up day was declared to be held on the next Saturday (21st) , according to a statement by Northern Provincial Secretary of Education, R. Ravindra. The rainfall had adversely impacted the Norther Province with most of the region being under water as well as affecting traffic in the region.
