More rain over the island and in sea areas

    December 03, 2015

The atmospheric disturbance still persists in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, possibility for rain over the island and neighboring sea areas is still high, the Met Dept. says in its weather forecast.

The Dept. further says that showers or thundershowers will develop over most parts of the island after 02.00 p.m. Heavy falls (about 100 mm) are also likely at some places.

Showers also may occur at several places along coastal areas in the Northern, Western, Southern and North western provinces during the morning too.  Misty conditions can be expected at some places during the morning.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

The Met Dep. cautions general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
