    Troops deployed for dengue prevention

    In order to curb the rise and the spread of the Dengue epidemic, troops attached to the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-W) launched a three-day long (from 11th to 13th January) campaign in the wake of the ongoing National Dengue Prevention Programme on Monday under the patronage of the Commander SFHQ-W, Major Gen. Sudantha Ranasinghe.

    Troops of the 58 Division have been deployed to conduct the programme with the assistance of regional Medical Officers and Public Health Inspectors (PHIs). Accordingly, over 134 army personnel have been deployed for the task in several areas including Ambalangoda, Akmeemana, Hikkaduwa, Baddegama, Bope, Habaraduwa, Matara and Akuressa.

     

    Similarly, 63 personnel including officers have been sent to Aranayake and Mawanella areas in the Kegalle district.

     

    Prompt measures have been initiated by the heath to prevent the disease from reaching epidemic proportions. The National Dengue Control Unit of the Ministry of Health supporting the ongoing Dengue Eradication campaign.
