National Scout Jamboree 2016 was organized by the Sri Lanka Scout Association under the theme of “Friendship and Understanding”.  President Maithripala Sirisena graced the opening ceremony of the Jamboree which was participated over 10,000 local and foreign Scouts.

This was the very first instance, a National Scout Jamboree was held in the Northern Province and the Sri Lanka Navy personnel educated the participants with an array of awareness programs in relation to water borne activities, lifesaving, operation of naval ships and craft, under the supervision and guidance of the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva.

The teachers and scouts participated in the Jamboree commended the worthy assistance given by the Sri Lanka Navy to become the event a success one.
