    112,238 premises checked for dengue in December

    In December alone 112,238 premises were checked for dengueand 16% of them were kept as Mosquito breeding places. 4242 were issued red notices while cases were filed against 939, said an official.
     
    During the two day special program on December 27 and 28 which was held in the Western province Galle District and Kalmunai all the schools were checked and the larvae breeding places were destroyed.
     
    The Education Ministry has organized a two day program with the support of the parents on December 30 and 31 to destroy the dengue breeding places in schools.
     
    It was decided that if there are mosquito breeding places owners of such places will be issued red notices.It was also decided to strengthen the garbage collection and disposal mechanism started by the provincial councils and to get the active support of the people.
     
    Abandoned boats near the beach in Galle,Matara and Hambantota district is a major cause in spreading dengue.
     
    As there are rains from time to time the people should check their homes, offices as well as the children’s school.
     
    If a person is having fever go to the nearest hospital and get it checked to identify dengue and to stop the complications.
