A project to renovate irrigation tanks damaged due to floods in he year 2011 in the Polonnaruwa District commenced under the patronage of Minister of Lands and Land Development, Siripala Gamlath. The tanks to be renovated are the Berapitiya tank, Beddde wewa, Aruna wewa and Gal Enda wewa.
The Ministry of Disaster Management has granted over 6.7 million rupees for this project. The work is being carried out by farmer organizations under the guidance of Polonnaruwa District Disaster Management Unit together with labour contribution by people in the areas.(KH/SI)
