Arrangements are being made to connect the power generated by the plant to the national grid. Two the generators were generating 600 MW while the construction work of a third generator had reached its last phase.  

Power and Energy Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi has instructed that the work of final phase of the Norochcholai power plant be accelerated. Accordingly the process of laying lines to transmit power from Norochcholai to Anuradhapura is being carried out. Power would be transmitted from Norochcholai plant to Anuradhapura in a high-voltage power line that comprises 234 pylons. Construction work of 197 out of 234 pylons had been completed.
