‘Diyawara Piyasa’ housing project commences

The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has executed the housing project, ‘Diyawara Piyasa’ for the purpose of providing full-facilitated housing for the fisher community.

Accordingly, Keerimundalama in Kalpitiya, Puttalm has been selected as the first ‘Diyawara Piyasa’ model village.

 

Under the project, 50 half-built houses in Keerimundalama will be developed at a cost of Rs. 15 million. Each house will be granted Rs. 0.3 million to complete construction.

 

According to the Fisheries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, there is a large number of half-constructed houses of fishermen in Sri Lanka and the government and the minister himself is determined to provide them with complete housing facilities.
