Fairly strong winds can be expected over the country (particularly in Uva Province and Jaffna, Mannar, Kegalle, Avissawella, Maduruoya, Hambantota and Pottuvil areas) and surrounding sea areas, Met. Department said today (17th Aug.).

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Jaffna and Mannar districts.

Several spells of light showers can be expected in the Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara and Puttalam districts.
