It said that showers or thundershowers will occur over most provinces of the island after 2.00 p.m. while showers will occur in the Northern and Eastern provinces in the morning too.

Fairly heavy falls (75- 100 mm within 24hrs) can be expected at some places, particularly in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Uva provinces.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces during the morning, it further said.

Temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers are expected and public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
