    Ginger Cultivation in Kurunegala District a success

    Ginger cultivation in the Kurunegala District has bvceme a success said S.H.Karunarathna, Assistant Director of the Department of Export Agriculture in the Kurunegala District.

    He said so at the District Agricultural Committee meeting held recently.


    He further revealed that in Polpithigama, Melsiripura areas in the Kurunegala District ginger has been cultivated in an area of 80 hectares.  It is also planned to cultivate in a land extent of 100 hectares, this year.


    Ginger cultivation is profitable as a kilo of ginger could be sold at a price of Rs.525/-. he further said.(KH)
