    Thirty million given for sick in North for treatments

    Thirty (30) million rupees has been provided as financial assistance for 600 persons suffering from serious maladies in the North to receive further treatment. This assistance has been given on the instructions of the President.

     

    The programme of awarding financial assistance to destitute persons suffering from serious diseases and who are unable to meet the expenses for treatment is being implemented on an innovative concept of President Rajapaksa.

     

    Northern Governor G.A. Chandrasiri said that a sum of 30 million rupees had been awarded to 600 such persons within the North during the past four years.

     

    The Governor provided these details when he joined in the presentation of financial assistance needed by 40 cancer, kidney and heart patients in the Mavattakulam area in Jaffna.

     

    Roofing sheets as well as household implements were distributed among low income families of the areas in parallel to this event.
