    The atmospheric disturbance in the southwest Bay of Bengal to the south of Sri Lanka is likely to move to the western sea area of the island. Under the influence of this system, showery condition is likely to continue over most parts of the island (particularly in the Uva, Southern, Western, North-western, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern provinces) during next two days (until 30th October).Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in most provinces of the island.Very heavy falls between (150-200) mm can be expected at some places in Uva, Southern, Western, North-western, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern provinces. Heavy falls about 100 mm can be expected at some places elsewhere.Windy condition is expected to increase up to (50-60) kmph at times over the island.General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

    WEATHER FORECAST FOR SEA AREAS AROUND THE ISLAND

    The atmospheric disturbance in the southwest Bay of Bengal to the south of Sri Lanka is likely to move to the western sea area of the island. Under the influence of this system, heavy showers or thundershowers and sudden roughness, associated with sudden increase of wind speed (up to 70-80 kmph) can be experienced in the south-eastern, southern, south-western and western sea areas (sea area extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Puttalam, Colombo and Hambanthota). Fishermen are informed that it is dangerous to venture into the above Sea areas and naval communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.Showers or thundershowers will occur in the sea areas around the island and heavy showers can be expected in some places.Winds will be North-easterly to South-easterly and speed will be (30-40) kmph in the sea areas around the island.The sea area around the island can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times.

Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere after 2.00 p.m.Heavy falls between (100-150) mm can be expected at some places in Uva, Southern and Eastern provinces. Fairly heavy falls about 100 mm can be expected at some places in North-western province.Windy condition is expected to increase up to (50-60) kmph at times over the island.General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
