The USFDA requires all domestic and foreign food facilities to renew their FDA registration every even numbered year. Accordingly, Sri Lankan exporters of food and beverage items must renew their existing FDA registration from October 01, 2014 to December 31, 2014.

Furthermore, under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) of USA, it is essential that non US Companies designate a US Agent to communicate with the FDA. The designated US Agent will serve as mode of communication between the FDA and Exporter concerned regarding food inspection and other FDA related clarifications, often requiring immediate response.
