The Ministry of Water Supply and Drainage has taken steps to implement a priority Water Supply Project to Kandeketiya with funding secured from local banks with a treasury guarantee to enhance the capital investment in the water supply sector.
Kandaketiya water supply project covers 10 Grama Niladari Divisions from Kandaketiya Divisional Secretary (OS) division including 68.5 km length of distribution network and 1.0 km length of transmission pipeline. The estimated number of connections of the project area is about 4000.
The contractor has proposed to obtain Rs. 2 bn from Bank of Ceylon (BOC) Sri Lanka.
