A ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of preserving the twenty million year-old rose quartz deposit and its Namal Grove will be held today at 3.30 p.m. at the Defence and Urban Development Ministry auditorium under the patronage of Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
A CD on the Jathika Namal Uyana and its national, religious, environmental, geographical, historical and educational values and the Rajarata University research paper on the Namal Uyana plants will be presented to the Defence Secretary. Parallel to the occasion, the Namal Uyana website too will be launched and the title deed of a 15-perch land in Alawwa donated to the Namal Uyana Vihara will be presented.
