The Department of Export Agriculture Development has launched a project to introduce cocoa cultivation to rubber plantations in the Moneragala district.
The department encourages the authorities of rubber plantations and owners of rubber smallholdings to grow cocoa among rubber trees and other places suitable for cocoa farming.
Cocoa can be grown in rubber plantations where rubber plants are four to five years old. The department will support those who are willing to grow cocoa by proving technical and financial assistance.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
