ADB grants USD 75 million loan for Southern Road Connectivity Project

    November 16, 2014

The Government has received two loans totaling 75 million US Dollars from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Southern Road Connectivity Project. The capacity of 33.5 kilometers of national highways linking three expressway interchanges will be improved; and the capacity of Road Development Authority (RDA) will be enhanced in planning the expressway connectivity improvement and in ensuring the project implementation readiness.

Out of the above mentioned two loans a loan of 5 million US Dollars equivalent has been given to help finance the consulting services to prepare the Expressway Connectivity Improvement Plan (ECIP).

RDA intends to apply a portion of proceeds of the loan given to finance the consulting services to prepare the ECIP to engage a firm of international consultants for screening, feasibility study and detailed engineering design of national highways linking the expressway network. According to the loan agreement, Quality and Cost Based Selection (QCBS) method should be applied in the selection of a consulting firm.
