    'A Beautiful Country- Bright Future', newsletter launched

    Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa was the Chief Guest at the launching ceremony of the newsletter 'A Beautiful Country - Bright Future', published by the Lake House at the Lake House auditorium,Thursday (20th Nov).

    Director, Editorial of Associated Newspapers Seelaratna Senarath delivered the welcome address at the outset of the ceremony. Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Associated Newspapers Ceylon Limited and veteran media personality Bandula Padmakumara presented the first copies of the Newsletters to the Secretary Defence during the session.

     

    This notable initiative of the Ministry of Urban Development in association with the Lake House Newspapers was taken-up with a view of communicating on the enduring development of the country to its readership. The entire paper articles would be presented as a combination of development feature articles, interviews, and images covering a vide range of information. This development centered newsletter would be designed and printed by the 'Lake House Graphic Team' and 'Commercial Press' respectively.

     

    Addressing the gathering Rajapaksa reiterated that, our aim was to transform inappropriately urbanized city of Colombo to a people friendly and livable capital.

     

    He also recalled that, initial plans aimed at flood control, relocation of underserved settlements, renovation of dilapidated colonial buildings, canal cleaning entailed with garden city concept altered it to an eye-catching green clean city automatically.

     

    Further he explained that, foremost impression of a foreigner would be depending upon the outward-show of the capital city. Hence, such sustainable transformation would indirectly generate a potential environment which could entice overseas investments, he added.

     

    Accordingly, it would be published in three languages and issued with the Daily News, Dinamina and Thinakaran newspapers. Moreover, e-news paper mode is also available for the convenience of the online readers (www.dailynews.lk/lassanaratak).

     

    Senior Officials of the Lake House Newspapers, Tri-Forces Commanders, Defence Ministry Officials, Director MoD Media Centre, Heads of Leading Newspapers, Renowned Journalists, Media Coordinators of the Tri-Forces and a large gathering of distinguished invitees were present at the event.(MoD/KH)
