    Sri Lanka to participate in Expo Milano 2015 in Italy

    Sri Lanka government will participate in the universal exposition "World Expo 2015".

    "Expo Milano 2015" World Trade Fair that will be held from 1st May to 31 October 2015, at World Avenue and Biodiversity Park in Milan, Italy with the objective of promoting Trade and Tourism.

     

    The participation consist of Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Sri Lanka Tea Board, National Gem & Jewellery Authority, National Crafts Council, Department of Commerce together with Sri Lanka Tourism under the auspicious of Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

     

    "Feeding the Planet Energy for Life" is the core theme of Expo Milano 2015. There are nine clusters spread over a total area of 36,650 square meters. They are Fruits and Legumes, Rice, Cocoa and Chocolate, Coffee, Spices, Cereals and Tubers, Bio-Mediterranean, Islands, Sea and Food, Arid Zones. The Sri Lanka pavilion has been located at the Fruits and Legumes cluster in an area of 250 sq.meters.

     

    This important global event will bring 140 countries and 20 million visitors to the city of Milan over a period of six months. Expo Milano 2015 is the largest worldwide event ever to be organized to unite countries, institutions, companies and citizens around the world to explore ideas and solutions for assuring healthy, safe and sufficient food to the growing global population through innovative, sustainable practices and new ways of collaboration.

     

    Expo 2015 will give everyone the opportunity to find out about and taste the world's best dishes, while discovering the best of the agri-food and gastronomic traditions of each of the exhibitor countries.

     

    This will be an excellent opportunity for Sri Lankan companies across all sectors to find business partners across the globe and to establish direct contacts with prospective buyers for thos who aspire to penetrate the European market.
