    Sri Lanka awards scholarships to two Afghan student cadets

    The Sri Lankan government has awarded scholarships to two Afghan student cadets to receive training at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University.

    In order to give considerations to a request made by the former President of Afghanistan Hameed Karzai during his visit to Sri Lanka in 2014, the Cabinet has approved a proposal made by the President Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity as the Minister of Defense to provide training opportunities for two Afghan students and to offer two scholarships for them.

     

    This University has provided educational opportunities to two students from the countries in the African and Asian regions on the basis of enhancing cooperation among these countries on a non-payment basis.
