    June 22, 2015

The Matara – Polhena beach has been declared out of bounds for local and foreign tourists due to the presence of jelly fish in the sea.

Four tourists were hospitalized yesterday by coming into contact with Jelly Fish. If the Jelly Fish come into contact near the chest area, it can cause death.

The Matara Police, Disaster Management Unit, Matara MOH Office and the Matara Municipal Council have decided to make the beach area out of bounds for tourists due to the poisonous state of the Jelly Fish.
