    Return of Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha to Sri Lanka

    The Sacred Relics of the Lord Buddha taken  from Mahiyangana Rajamaha Viharaya for exposition in the Buddhamanthan Temple in Thailand will be brought back to Sri Lanka this afternoon (17).

    The Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Wissanu Krea-ngam and a 23 member delegation will be arriving in Sri Lanka carrying the Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha.


    The Ministry of Buddha Sasana has arranged a welcome ceremony for the return of the Sacred Relics and the Visiting Thai delegation at BIA.


    President Maithripala Sirisena inaugurated the exposition of the Sacred Relics from Mahiyangana Rajamaha Viharaya, in the Buddhamanthan Temple in Thailand on November 2 and the exposition continued until Nov.16.
