Rs 6.7million was given as compensation to 23 migrant workers under the patronage of Justice and Foreign Employment Minister Thalatha Athukorala at the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment yesterday (6th Sept.).
The Workers Welfare fund pays compensation to migrant workers who are registered with the SLFEB but not covered under the insurance scheme.
Minister Athukorala said that they are committed to provide security and welfare for the migrant workers and instructions have been given to the officers of SLFEB and Foreign Employment Ministry.
