    Assistance to Uplift Living Conditions Launched

    Pregnant women, physically-handicapped civilians, school-goers and under privileged people were among the beneficiaries in a mammoth donation of humanitarian assistance, organized by the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Saturday (22) with the sponsorship received from No 306 - C, Diamond Lions Club in Colombo.

    The donation project kicked off at St Anthony’s Church in Vettalakerni, Jaffna gave away stationeries and school bags to 200 students in 4 schools, wheelchairs to 5 physically-handicapped civilians and gift packets of nutrients to 20 pregnant women who had assembled there as initiatives on the recommendations of respective Grama Seva officials and other responsible authorities.

    The distribution programme was graced by Rev Fr Mc Donald of St. Anthony’s Church in Vettalakerni, Mr Nimal Ranawaka, Chairman of the 306 - C Diamond Lions Club of Colombo - Lion, Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, Mr K Kanakeshwaran, Divisional Secretary for Maradankerni, Principals, Teachers, state officials and senior citizens in the area.

    SFHQ-J has been instrumental in extending its hand of friendship to low-income groups in the Jaffna peninsula with the support of various donors and philanthropists in order to help uplift the living standards of needy people.
