    Seychelles President emphasizes his commitment to take forward Sri Lanka Featured

    The President of Seychelles, Danny Faure expressed his commitment to take forward the long-standing relations between Seychelles and Sri Lanka for the prosperity and development of both countries.

    The Seychelles President made these remarks at the special banquet hosted by him, in honour of visiting President Maithripala Sirisena, at the State House, Monday (08th).

    Expressing his views further President Faure said the visit of the Sri Lankan President to Seychelles at the time of completion of 30 years of Seychelles- Sri Lanka relations will mark a new milestone in the relations between the two countries. ‘Even though there is geographical distance between the two countries, the commitment of both countries to ensure democracy and human rights are similar’ the Seychelles President said.

    Cooperation between Seychelles and Sri Lanka have developed in numerous fields including trade and investment, defence, renewable energy, education and training, health, diplomacy, fisheries, sports and culture will be consolidated in the years to come, he added.

    The Seychelles President also said that there is a high demand for the Sri Lankan health service in Seychelles and further said that there are investment opportunities in the tourism sector and he invited Sri Lankan entrepreneurs and investors to invest in those fields.

    The two countries have faced the negative impacts of climatic changes and drug trafficking as two state islands, pointed out the President of Seychelles and expressed his desire to working in cooperation to overcome such  challenges together.

    President Faure said that over 1800 of Sri Lankan employers are working in different fields in Seychelles and appreciated their service provided for the development of the country

    President Maithripala Sirisena stated that Sri Lanka has obtained a reputation and has built a new image from the international arena within the new foreign policy conducted to maintain strong relations with other countries.

    resident Sirisena said that this condition has helped to construct the economic stability and to enhance the quality of life of the people of the country. He stated that by developing close ties between friendly countries his main objective is to obtain a high level of assistance from all the people on behalf of the well being of all the people.

    President Sirisena further said that it is his objective to obtain prosperity for both the countries through uplifting the Seychelles-Sri Lanka ties which has the bond of brotherhood, not merely the friendship. President Sirisena and the Sri Lankan delegates who joined this dinner were warmly welcomed by the President of Seychelles. During the banquet, the Presidents of Seychelles and Sri Lanka engaged in a friendly conversation.
