    Invitation for philanthropists: provide facilities for devotees Featured

    The era’s incomparable meritorious deed – the unveiling of the Golden Pinnacle and the Crest Gem of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya will be held at the auspicious time of 10 am on Monday (26).Ruwanweli Chethiyaramadhipathi Ven. Pallegama HemarathanaNayaka Thera told the Daily News that according to their estimates around 600,000 devotees are expected to visit the Anuradhapura Maha Seya’s Pinnacle unveiling ceremony. The Thera also said any philanthropist who wishes to provide meals for devotees is welcome.

    The new Crest Gem to be crowned on the summit of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya was escorted in a colourful motorcade from Kurunegala Ethkanda Rajamaha Viharaya to the Ruwanweli Maha Seya premises.The Crest Gem is being exhibited to the public having deposited it in a specially-designed cubicle in the Maha Seya Sacred locality. Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thera told that the Crest Gem fixed into a golden base ornamented with around 4,500 blue and ruby gems would be crowned on the gold-plated Pinnacle on November 25 noon.

    The Thera also said both the Crest Gem and the Pinnacle would be unveiled in the presence of Most Venerable Malwathu and Asgiri Maha Nayaka Theras.“This Pinkama has been organized on the anusasana and the guidance of Atamasthanadhipathi Ven. Dr. Pallegama Siriniwasa Maha Nayaka Thera and incumbents of the Atamasthana temples. The Vishwa Parami Foundation has been entrusted with the responsibility of fixing the new Crest Gem and gold plating the Pinnacle and fixing the technologically-advanced electrical lightning conductor for the protection of the Maha Seya and expenses of the pinkama,” the Prelate said.

    He said no politician has been invited to participate in the pinkama and it is open for all local and foreign, Buddhist or non-Buddhist communities. “Anyone can extend their support in providing food and drinking water for the crowd from November 22 to 26,” Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thera said.
