The Department of Meteorology today issued Warning for Heavy Rain says that "Northeast monsoon conditions are establishing gradually over the country and expected to fully establish over the country probably from 27 November 2019. Therefore prevailing showery condition in the Northern and Eastern parts of the country is likely to enhance further. Very heavy showers about 100-150mm are likely at some places in Trincomalee, Batticaloa,
Ampara, Monaragala, Badulla and Polonnaruwa districts. Heavy showers about 100mm are likely at some places in Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Anuradhapura, Rathnapura, Kegalle, Kaluthara, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, Matara, Mannar and Gampaha districts.Wind speed can be increased up to (40-50) kmph at times in Central hilly areas, Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee district.General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers
