    Cabinet nod for National Policy on Pre-Schools Featured

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Education Minister Dullus Alahapperuma to implement the National Policy on Pre-Schools, Plantations and Export Agriculture Minister and Co-Cabinet Spokesman Ramesh Pathirana said.Addressing the weekly Cabinet press briefing at the Government Information Department Auditorium in Colombo yesterday, he said the National Policy had been drafted on the opinions of experts, officials and all interested parties in the field.


    According to Minister Pathirana, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa had proposed during the Cabinet meeting that a wide range of discussions and a dialogue needs to be created on the topic. It was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. The new National Policy had been presented based on the set of proposals presented by former Education Minister Bandula Gunawardene.
    “The new National Policy will offer benefits to around 580,000 pre-school children who receive pre-school education in the country.A valid and methodical education system and a valid certificate through a valid certificate course will be offered to a large number of pre-school teachers serving in pre-schools in the country. The new National Policy will create a suitable environment in pre-school that offer the best suitable pre-school education to the children, Minister Pathirana added.
