The following decisions were taken at a discussion held on 13.03.2020 on the instructions of Hon. Minister of Skill Development, Employment and Labour Relations with the participation of Chairman and Senior Management of the SLBFE and Associations of Licensed Foreign Employment Agencies.
1. In line with the declaration of WHO the Coronavirus outbreak a global pandemic, no Sri Lankans will be granted approval by the SLBFE for leaving for Foreign Employment until outbreak of Coronavirus, Covid – 19 in the world is brought considerably under control.
This decision has been taken as a supportive measure for the quarantine process being implemented at national level since the restriction of local and overseas movements of migrant population is a must in this endeavor.
2. It is further emphasized that this decision has been taken as a means of extending co-operation towards certain countries that have already imposed entry restrictions due to the outbreak of Coronavirus.
