    One hundred and forty five (145) persons quarantined under Navy’s care

    One hundred and forty five (145) persons have been directed to the quarantine centre at Boossa Naval Base as of now. The quarantine centre at Boossa Naval Base was established to support the quarantine of persons arriving in the island, in the backdrop where the new coronavirus is spreading all over the world.

    To augment the government efforts to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country, a four-storied building at Boossa Navy Base was prepared for quarantine of persons on 16th March 2020. Accordingly, 21 locals including 17 Sea Martials and 03 foreigners (total of 24) have been directed for quarantining as of this morning (24th March 2020).

    Apart from that, another 112 persons who had been clinically separated in 03 locations near Galle harbour upon medical recommendation were also sent to the quarantine centre at Boossa naval premises this afternoon (24th March). Among those persons were 36 locals and 76 foreigners. Further, yet another 09 local Sea Martials on self-quarantine were also directed to the Boossa quarantine centre.

    As such, the quarantine centre established at Boossa Naval Base as of now houses a total of one hundred and forty-five (145) persons, comprising 66 locals and 79 foreigners.
