    Government hospitals introduced to care for suspected Coronavirus patients

    In a special statement issued at the National Operation Centre for the prevention of Covid-19, the Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe details several hospitals that have been assigned to care for persons suspected of having contracted the Coronavirus.

    They are the Homagama Base hospital for patients from the Colombo District, the Minuwangoda Hospital and Beruwela Hospitals have been assigned for patients from the Gampaha and Kalutara Districts respectively. The Kalutara, Colombo, Gampaha and Puttalam Districts have further been identified as high-risk zones and apart from the Homagama Base Hospital being assigned to treat suspected Coronavirus patients, a quarantine centre has also been established in Homagama.

     
    He also noted that the Voice of America facility in Iranawila is currently being readied to cater to patients from the Puttalam District and this facility will be ready for operation in two days.

    According to Dr. Jasinghe, the Beruwela Hospital is being prepared for patients from the Kalutara District and it will be acquired in another two days. The Minuwangoda Hospital will be ready to accept suspected Coronavirus cases from tomorrow.

    Accordingly, suspected patients having cough, fever, breathing difficulties and runny nose should seek medical attention from the above-mentioned hospitals. The Health Services Director General appealed to the public and hospitals without isolation facilities to direct all suspected Coronavirus patients to these specially allocated hospitals.
