    Rs 5000 payment for daily wage earners who lost their work due to Covid-19 to commence from yesterday

    Discussions were held on April 16th at the Social Empowerment Ministry under the patronage of Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi regarding the payment of the Rs. 5000 allowance for those who have lost their means of earning due to the Covid-19.

     

    During this meeting it was discussed at length about paying the others who have been affected due to the Coronavirus and these persons who are affected could obtain a recommendation from their rural societies and present their application to the Divisional Secretaries. The payments of Rs. 5000 was scheduled to commence yesterday (20th).

    Accordingly, under this scheme, teachers, private bus drivers and conductors, Ayurveda doctors not in government service but registered with the Ayurveda Medicine Council, handicraftsmen, women receiving maintenance, small scale tea estate owners, provincial reporters, etc will receive this allowance of Rs. 5000.
