    The National Insurance Trust Fund Board (NITF) has released Rs. 40 million to provide immediate emergency relief to the flood affected and displaced people, NITF Chairman Manjula de Silva said. He said the NITF provides the funds while the relief measures are being carried out through the Ministry of Disaster Management (DMC) and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

    The inaugural opening session of the annual seminar of the Army Officer Career Development Centre's (OCDC) in Buttala was held on Thursday (31). According to Army media, the two-day seminar, themed 'Dynamics of Conflicts; Analysis within Regional and Global Context' commenced at the OCDC in Buttala under the patronage of the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, yesterday morning. Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, was also present at the occasion.

    After many deliberations over the much fraught Long Term Generation Plan of the Ceylon Electricity Board, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed a Committee comprising of six officials to study the plan and revert with a report by June 23.
