GSP concession likely between March and May 2017 – PM

    October 21, 2016

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that Sri Lanka would be able to regain the GSP Plus concession to the country between March and May next year if the current economic and political reforms implemeted after the President Maithripala Sirsena assumed office are continued without any change.

Addressing local media on Thursday after the discussions held at the European Parliament, he added that the implementation of development programs together with whole country under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena is expected to commence in January next year.

He emphasized that the time for discussion has now been finished and the time for implementation of plans has dawned.

“The Good Governance Government has already drafted plans for development. Next is my Economic Statement and the Budget Speech of the Finance Minister. Once these are completed we have to start work and show results to the people.”
