President opens museum at the Gorakana temple Featured

President Maithripala Sirisena opened the new museum at the Gorakana Purana Kande Vihara (temple) in Panadura Keselwatta, yesterday (21st Feb).

The Kanda Vihara temple comprises of many ancient heritagess such as the Vahalkada, Pohoya house, preaching hall, dwelling house, image house and the Sthupa. The new museum was built in the 400 years old Sangawasaya of the temple.

 

This is the first time a President of the country has visited the Gorakana Purana Kande Vihara.

 

The Maha Sangha including, Chief incumbent of the temple, Most Ven. Wimalakitti Thera, and Ministers Mahinda Samarasinghe and Mangala Samaraweera also participated.
