UPFA grabs Hambantota district

The United People’s Freedom Alliance has won Hambantota district with a majority of 94,858 votes and has become eligible for 8 out of the 14 seats in the District.

The UPFA has received 174,687 votes in the district from the 4 electoral divisions and from the postal votes.  
 
The United National Party has received 79,829 votes representing 26.24 percent and has become entitled for 4 seats and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna has received 39,345 votes and has become entitled for 2 seats.  The Democratic Party has received 9,547 votes and has not become entitled for any seat from the district.    ,

In the 2009 election too the UPFA won 8 seats in the district. (niz)
