    It’s time for all to join to avert maritime terrorism – PM Featured

    Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasizing the danger of the raising of the maritime terrorism in the Indian Ocean region due to the influence of various groups said that the time has come for all countries to join hands to avert this menace, which could be a huge threat to the global economy.

    Addressing the ‘2017 Anti Terrorism Conference’ in New Delhi, India through Skype technology on 14th March, the Premier mentioned that during past 15 years the maritime terrorism is raising its head surpassing the terrorism on land.

     

    A half of the container ships are sailing through the Indian Ocean region, which consists of a population of three billion and it is a huge economic strength to the Asias and Middle Eastern countries, he said and added that the maritime terrorism brings a huge threat to this economic strength.

     

    He also said that the attention of all should be focused on digital terrorism, which is raising its head in the Indian Ocean Region.

     

    The Premier while stressing all the states to create a cooperation to avert all these terror activities pointed out that the terrorism of one person cannot be considered as the liberation of another person.

     

    He believed that the challenge of defeating terrorism could be won if all countries exchange information through discussion, and cooperation and share the expert knowledge.
