President Mahinda Rajapaksa will leave for the US on September 22 to attend the 69th session of the UN General Assembly at the UN Headquarters in New York, Foreign Ministry sources said.
He will address world leaders on the opening day of the General debate on September 24. The President will be accompanied by his Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and Monitoring MP for External Affairs Sajin De Vaas Gunawardena among others.
External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L.Peiris will travel to New York on September 19, ahead of the President.
