President refutes allegations that casinos to be introduced Featured

President Mahinda Rajapaksa categorically refuting allegations that the government has issued casino licenses to the new hotel project said setting up a casino is not a part of the project.

Addressing editors of both print and electronic media at the Temple Tress today, President said the government has given its approval purely to set up a hotel project.

 

We are not the ones who introduced casinos to this country. It was in existence since 1950s, President said.

 

There is no change in the wordings of the Gazette whatsoever when issuing the license for this particular project, President said adding that the government adhered to the previous Gazette notification.

 

There is no change in the government’s policy stance. We will not set up casinos, President assured.
