Colombo Mayor challenges Ravi Karunanayake for an open debate

February 18, 2014

The Colombo Mayor A. J. M. Muzammil has challenged the United National Party Parliamentarian to an open debate on any TV channel and has accused the MP as the person responsible for the turmoil in the United National Party.

Muzammil has said that MP Karunanayake has resigned from the party’s Nomination Board only after completing the list of candidates contesting the WPC elections next month, and thereby misleading party stalwarts. He has said that people are not fools and Karunanayake’s resignation was a big joke.

The Colombo Mayor has also accused that Karunanayake was ruining the UNP and he had messed up things at the Central and North Western Provincial Council elections in September last year and he also earlier ruined the Kotte MC. He has said that Karunanayake also attempted to interfere with him at the Colombo Municipal Council but he had not given in.

The Mayor has also said that he would continue to seek the support of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to develop Colombo City for the benefit of the public.(niz)
