The members of the Maha Sangha of the area led by the Ven. Vendaruve Upali, Nayaka Thera of the Solosmahasthana chanted Seth Pirith and blessed the President.

Thereafter Prsident Maithripala Sirisena attended two special public rallies at the Thohpaawaewa stadium and the Hingurakgoda Dudley Senanayake Stadium attended by massive crowds to welcome the President. The rallies were organized with the intention of extending the wishes of the residents highlighting the appointment of a farming son as president of the country by changing the previous administration.

President Maitripala Sirisena in his address to the people said that his victory is a victory of the people too and the honour of defeating the corrupt regime and paving the way to establish democracy and good governance belongs to all the people of the country.

Ministers P. Harrison and Chandrani Bandara also participated in the occasion.
