President unveils Buddhist Statue at Pohaddaramulla Mahigarjanarama Purana Sri Maha Viharaya

A Pinkama to unveil the Buddha Statue at the Mahigarjanarama Purana Sri Maha Vihare at Pohoddaramulla in Wadduwa took place under the patronage of the President.



President Rajapaksa who arrived at the Mahigarjanarama Purana Sri Maha Vihare at Pohoddaramulla in Wadduwa engaged in religious observances and secured the blessings of the Maha Sangha. Thereafter the President unveiled the Buddha Statue and offered flowers.

The Pohoddaramulla Mahigarjanarama Vihare is about 700 years old and has many ancient values. The President handed over a memento to the Mahanayake of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Sangha Sabha the Most Ven. Davuldena Gnanissara Thera. A large number of devotees had gathered at the Vihare. The President exchanged in pleasantries with them.

Maha Sangha including Amarapura Mulawansika Sect Mahanayake Ven.Kosgoda Saranankara Mahanayake Thero, Chief Incumbent of the Vihara Ven.Kirama Ananda Thero and Ministers Kumara Welgama, Rohitha Abeygunawardena were present.
