    Bhutan Premier to meet his Sri Lankan counterpart tomorrow Featured

    The Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay will be in Sri Lanka from 09 to 12 April 2015 on an invitation extended by President Maithripala Sirisena.

    During the visit, Prime Minister Tobgay will hold bilateral discussions with President Maithripala Sirisena and also meet with Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera and several other dignitaries. President Sirisena will host a state banquet in honour of visiting Prime Minister Tobgay. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will meet his Bhutanese counterpart during a working luncheon on 10 April 2015.

     

    Prime Minister Tobgay will receive a sapling of the Sacred Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura, as a gift from Sri Lanka, to mark the 60th birth anniversary of His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuk, the fourth King of Bhutan. The Prime Minister of Bhutan will attend religious observances at Kelaniya and Gangaramaya Temples and pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth in Kandy. He will also plant a tree at the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya to commemorate his visit to Sri Lanka.

     

    The visit of Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay to Sri Lanka will further consolidate and broaden bilateral engagement between the two countries, built on trust, mutual understanding and cultural affinity.
