It is named as the "Annual Varna Pooja".

Accordingly, the President Maithripala Sirisena handed over a plaque of appreciation to the Director Lankem Ceylon PLC, Mr.Ruwan T. Weerasinghe.

It was presented at a ceremony held at the Presidents’ House in Kandy last day to appreciate the efforts of everyone who contributed to the success of the Kandy Esala Perahera.

This ‘Varna Pooja’ has now become a tradition and part of the many rituals of the Dalada Maligawa prior to the commencement of the annual Esala Perehera.
