    World Twenty20 Trophy on display at Galle Face today

    The ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 trophy was brought to Sri Lanka on Saturday (16) for a three-day stop en route to its global journey spanning 12 countries.

    The trophy was officially received on Saturday evening at the Race Course Ground in Colombo 7. Mr. Raymond Palmer, of the International Cricket Council (ICC) presented the Trophy to the Minister of Sports, Dayasri Jayasekara and President of SLC, Thilanga Sumathi

     

    On January 17th the Trophy will be displayed at the Galle Face Green for the general public to view and take pictures with the Trophy from 3pm – 7 pm.

     

    The trophy will then be taken to the SLC Head Office (SSC Grounds) on Monday (18) where budding cricketers, will get a closer look at the prize.
    School children in and around Colombo are invited to participate in viewing and taking pictures with the Trophy before it is flown out to continue its tour and head to India for the World Cup 2016.

     

    The trophy travels through all T20 playing nations, before it returns to India, where the tournament gets underway from 8th March to 3rd April 2016.
