    Flagship of Holland MS Rotterdam to call at Hambantota Port today

    Flagship of Holland America Line, MS Rotterdam is scheduled to call port at Hambanthota on Sunday, Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) said.

     

    The largest passenger cruise liner carrying 1,176 persons and a crew of 600 on board, and arriving from Cochin Port in India will dock at the Hambantota Port on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. The ship will depart at 10:00 p.m. Sunday to Yangon, Myanmar.

     

    The 238-meter long luxury cruise ship from The Netherlands is the largest cruise ship to call at the Hambantota Port.

     

    The previous record was held by the 226-meter long MS Europa-2, which called port at Hambantota on 29th of January.

     

    So far 13 such luxury ships had called at the Hambantota port, Minister of Ports and Shipping Arjuna Ranatunga said.

     

    The Minister said this new trend of luxury ships calling at Hambantota would boost economic development in the Hambantota zone and indirectly provide employment opportunities for the people in the area.
